Training and exchange are TITELBILD strengths. Our staff regularly attend conferences and courses to upgrade their linguistic and professional skills and to keep abreast of trends. TITELBILD is at the forefront of language transfer for the audiovisual media. Our experts are frequently invited to speak at international conferences in Germany and abroad. We have an annual exchange programme with Australian broadcaster SBS: Each year a TITELBILD employee spends a month at SBS in Sydney and an SBS subtitler joins our team in Berlin.

TITELBILD is an active partner in the EU-funded “MuTra – Multidimensional Translation“ conference series. These high-level conferences, held at various European venues, examine multiple dimensions of modern translation scenarios and the impact of new technologies.

We play an important role in the international Languages and the Media conference that is held in Berlin every two years. Languages and the Media has become one of the most important international conventions for the audiovisual translation industry and broadcasters providing media access. Managing Director Mary Carroll is a member of the steering committee of Languages and the Media.

Mary Carroll is also a member of the Transmedia Research Group, ESIST (European Association for Studies in Screen Translation), BDÜ (German Association of Interpreters and Translators) and Transforum.

Our subtitling seminars in Germany and abroad for professional translators, linguists and students are well attended. The book Subtitling, co-authored by TITELBILD founder and Managing Director Mary Carroll, has become a standard textbook and reference work used throughout the world.
