Freelance Opportunities

Freelance Translators for Audiovisual Media

We are currently looking for translators with experience in subtitling in the following languages: from DE and/or EN into Chinese, English, French, Hungarian, Japanese, Korean, Macedonian, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Russian and Spanish (LA and Spain).

Education and Experience

  • University degree and/or postgraduate qualification in translation or in languages.
  • At least 3-5 years solid experience in translation.
  • Experience/training in audiovisual translation.
  • Experience using subtitling software (e.g. EZ Titles, Wincaps, FAB etc.) desired.

General skills and abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience in using CAT tools such as SDL/Trados.
  • Clear and concise translation style; broad general knowledge; demonstrated aptitude for technical and general translation work.
  • Ability to handle difficult technical language and marketing terminology.
  • Ability to work under time pressure while maintaining high levels of output and quality, both independently and as part of an international team.
  • Advanced skills in researching terminology, language and subject matter.
  • Highly developed social competence and team spirit

Language Skills

  • Native speaker of the target language with profound knowledge of its grammar and style as well as idiomatic usage.
  • Very thorough knowledge of the English language and culture is essential.
  • Fluent in German desirable
